The prayer of a
wife to a husband:
Well, I did and I
lay and you did,
And you went away
without giving me anything…
I’ll be damned if
you do that again,
And so I rebuke you
now…
In the name of
God, who saw you throw the sperm away.
In the name of the
Father,
In the name of the
Son
And in the name of
the Holy Ghost.
And in my name do
I do this,
So that you will
not do it again.
(It’s recorded in
the Bible – There was a man, and he went in to his wife, and he emitted on the
ground.
And the Lord was
angry and slew him.
And according to
the custom of that time, the brother went in to the wife, to raise up children
for his brother.
But he too emitted
on the ground…
And the Lord saw
that, and killed him too.
Then the father
had a third son, and said to himself, “What if the third son dies too…” And he told the widow, “Go live somewhere
else, when the third son is grown up, I will give him to you”.
And Tamar went and
lived somewhere else.
Then the third son
was grown up, but not given to her. And
she heard that her father-in-law was coming that side to shear his sheep. So she put a veil over her face, and sat by
the road.
And the man walked
by that way, and saw her, and thought she was a prostitute… and he asked her, “How
much, for me to come into you..? I will
give you a goat from the flock”. And she
agreed.
But he didn’t have
the goat then, so he left his crook and his staff, or something like that. And then he went in to her, and she finally
got some sperm, and she conceived.
Then he went his
way, and later when the flock was shorn, he remembered her, and sent a goat to
her by the hand of his friend, but his friend did not find her.
And he asked
around, “Where is the prostitute that used to sit here?” And they said, “There was no prostitute”.
Then the friend
went back to the man, and said, “No one knows about the prostitute”.
And the man said, “Well,
we did try to pay her…” And then he
forgot about her.
About three months
later, he was told that Tamar was with child.
And he said, “Bring her out, and burn her”.
And as they brought
her out, she said, “I am with child by the man, whose crook and staff this is”.
And he recognized his
own, and said “She is more righteous than I”.
But he never went
in to her again.
And at the time of
her delivery, there were twins…
And the man was
Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of
Abraham. He who was to be the king or
the law-giver in Israel.
